Ready, Set, Go!

Just a quick post to let you know that Margaret from Quilt Station has her Maltaville Album Quilt (AKA Mary Hill) patterns available now. You can purchase them by signing up at her Quilt Station blog and clicking on the "Maltaville Album Quilt BOM" button at the top of the page. She has also started a blog for those of us who are working on the quilt to share our progress, and you will be added as a contributor after you purchase the first installment of patterns. Check out the Applique Tutorial Page. She is also sharing pictures of her fabric choices for each block, and even a shopping guide for finding each fabric, or something similar.

Here is one of her blocks, waiting for the embroidered embellishment. Care to join in the fun?

Friends of Baltimore

Well, I finally took the plunge and signed up for Sue Garman's wonderful Baltimore Album Quilt, Friends of Baltimore.

I've been following along on her blog as she designed it, and patiently waiting for the pattern to be available. It's so stunning, and I can't imagine the amount of work it took to create it. Here is a close-up of one of the first month's two blocks.

Each border is unique, and each vase different. The flowers in the vases at the corners are appliqued after the borders are sewn together, hiding the seams, which I haven't see before.

If you want to join up, the BOM is available now at Quakertown Quilts. There are a lot of different ways to order it; pattern, kit, or even an option to have the pattern printed out on freezer paper already, which I think is a great idea for us time-crunched stitchers. You can read more about the quilt, and see more pictures, on Sue's blog. Care to join me??

Maybe you've noticed the new button on my sidebar. I've been selected as one of the 50 Best Quilting Blogs by Guide to Art Schools. There are some very talented ladies on the list, and I am honored to be in such great company! Be sure and check out the list, either by clicking on the button, or here. There are many of my favorite blogs listed, and some that are new to me. I'll be checking out the new ones to see what I'm missing.

Please keep our Aussie friends affected by Hurricane Yasi in your thoughts and prayers.
